Here is a sneak Peak of the kid's book I'm doing with my friend Rey Ortega. It's a delighful tale of a Rhino and his his Oxpecker friend (oxpecker is a bird for those who don't know). I'm working on colouring it in as we speak. Keep posted for more drawings and maybe even a final or two from it.

Long time no blog

Here's a sketch I did this morning while recovering from the old day after flu. I just moved downtown Toronto and there are beatiful women everywhere. Here's a sketch of one of them. Until next time... G$

Hey pretty pretty

I've continued working with inks and watercolour. I love it. I'm trying to mix a more realistic style with my usual graphic approach. Anyway I started a new job with Groove games and I'm in between places right now so I haven't been able to scan any of my new work. Eventually I post them all on my website, but for now this is a little preview of what's to come.

Two posts in one month... get out!

That's right!... here I am posting my second post in a month. It's been a long time since I've done that. Anyway, Here's a work in progress. I wish I would have scanned it after the drawing stage to give you the complete evolution, but I just got my scanner yesterday. It was a graduation present from my mom. I'll post some of the steps as I complete the piece. I went back to watercolour on paper. Man it was fun. They give the human figure such life. More to come...

My imagination runs wild

Hey there. It's been a rollercoaster ride all summer. I've been teaching full-time so it's been hard to keep on track with my art. Keeping up with the little kids has taken all of my energy. No excuses though, I feel like if you want to do something you'll make time for it. Here is a sneak preview of a piece I did for a group show I'm planning with a group of friends. I hope you like it. My style has evolved a little bit since school ended, and I'm excited to see where this takes me. Gmons over and out.

Rocky MMXII

Word to your mothers. It's been a long time since I updated my blog. I've been doing a little bit of work here and there, but mostly hunting for jobs and concept work. Two new things in the mix, 1.) I've been working on a children's book with my friend Rey (see links). The image posted is a collage of character sketches I've done lately. I wanna be able to draw Rocky the Rhino with my eyes closed, I think I'm almost there. 2.) A group of friends and I are planning a group show for fall(ish). I'll keep you posted on the progress as I find out myself.

Mutual Symbiosis... WTF is that?

Here are some sketches and research I've been doing on mutual symbiosis (when two animals benefit from a relationship with each other). I've been focusing on the oxpecker and it's relatiosnhip with large mammals (like your mother). All this research is for a kids book i hope to do with my friend Rey. I'm stoked on the idea and I hope we actually get it done. Until next time kiddies.

Greg Hill Illustration Graduate... unless you know something i don't

Well, I'm finally done school. Hard to believe. Probably because I'm sitting in the studio at Sheridan right now. I took the weekend off even though I have lots to do for the year end show on Thursday April 26, 2007 (visit www.sheridanheadlines.ca for details). I went to visit my grrl Ally in Waterloo. I had a crazy bus ride there and hectic run to catch our go-train on the way back. This is a sketch from a brief moment of sanity waiting for the bus on the way there.

This pic is the cover of my old sketch book. I've updated my website a ton lately, so check it out (www.ghillustration.ca). I haven't had much Greg time lately I even missed UFC 69. I take full responsibilty for George St. Pierre losing. I am sorry George. We'll be back bro.

No rest for the wicked

Working hard even though it's Reading Week and I should be on a beach somewhere. Anyway Here are some sketches for my comic called "There's nothing to do in St. Ratford". It's a compilation of stories (85% of which may be true) about growing up in a small town. I should have lots to post soon, I'm busy as hell right now.

Oh yeah alot of you complained about the size of the images on my website, si i made them bigger. you win.

ghillustration.ca is finally up and running

I finally got my website uploaded. No thanks to you domainsatcost.ca. What a hassle that was. Anyway here are some sketches I did for a project (sorry about the shadows). I'm going to be writing and illustrating a bunch of stories I have collected over the years. It's about growing up in a small town and the stupid shit you do there when you're bored. The final should be up on my website soontimes.

Sketches = the future

I'm dedicating my blog to my sketches and process work. I had some problems with the place I was getting hosting for my website with so it's been stalled for a couple days, oh well. It's too late to turn back now here is a sketch.

Pitter Patter let's get at 'er

I had an amazing christmas break. Far too much drinking and watching TV, but a much needed break. Anyway I'm close to put my website up (www.ghillustration.ca). Here is a painting I did this summer, it's not really done, but I like the way it looks now so here it is.
